Based in West Kelowna, we are a non-profit basketball club dedicated to providing basketball programs and opportunities for children, youth, and teens in our community. We go by and operate under the name "Westkhoops" for our website and social media accounts. Our official legal name is "West Kelowna Youth Basketball Association."Ā

The West Kelowna Youth Basketball Association (our society's legal name) is the registered not-for-profit organization that oversees and manages Westkhoops (our operating name). It ensures the proper administration, development, and organization of basketball programs for the youth in West Kelowna.

What types of sports instruction do you offer?

We offer comprehensive basketball instruction to players of all skill levels. We focus on developing fundamental skills, improving basketball IQ, and enhancing overall performance on the court. Our instruction covers various aspects of the game, including shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork, defensive techniques, and conditioning.

The association offers individual and group training sessions, allowing players to receive personalized attention while learning in a team environment. What age groups do you cater to?

We provide basketball programs and instruction for children and youth ages 8 to 15 in grades 4 to 9. As club interest and demand increase, the organization foresees the opportunity to grow and expand its programs to children and youth of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. Our programs are tailored to specific age brackets to ensure appropriate skill development and competition for each age group.

What is the duration of a typical sports instruction session?

Our sports instruction sessions, which include one-on-one training and team practices, usually last 60 minutes to an hour and a half. For our summer camps, we divide them into two sessions: morning (AM) and afternoon (PM), with each session lasting 2 hours.

Do you offer group or individual instruction?

We offer both group and individual basketball training instruction depending on the preference and needs of the customer.

What sort of equipment do you provide during the instruction sessions?

Equipment may vary Depending on the program, league, or age group you register for, and what is provided will be communicated during the registration process. The association provides all necessary equipment for sports instruction; however, some programs will require athletes to bring their own basketball to participate. We provide practice cones, markers, scrimmage pinnies, baskets, scoreboards, game clocks, and timers. For specialized programs, training aids such as agility ladders, jump ropes, and other necessary equipment will be provided as needed to support these programs.

What is the duration of the basketball season?

We run our summer camp on various dates in July and August, our fall club league starts in September, and our spring club league in April.Ā Ā

What is your refund policy?

By acknowledging and accepting the Terms and Conditions, participants indicate their agreement to Westkhoops' refund policy. A full refund can be granted if a camp or program has not yet commenced and a request for a refund is made at least 10 days before the starting date. Cancellations made nine days or less before the start date may be eligible for a 50% refund. The remaining 50% of the payment is non-refundable as it covers administration fees, the loss of holding a spot, and planned coaching staff expenses based on the number of registered participants.Ā 

šŸ‘‰ NOTE: No refunds will be issued once a camp or program session begins, regardless of whether the participant has attended. Upon request, you may be eligible to receive a credit applied to your account, which can be used towards future enrollment in Westkhoops programs, such as 3x3 club leagues, camps, or private training sessions. In the case of a medical absence or physical injury, credit will only be granted upon presentation of a physician's note. Refunds will not be given due to an "Act of God" or any crisis affecting global, national, or local levels.
