Q13: What is the difference between "Exhibition Games" and a "Full Season"?

A: The term "Exhibition Games" refers to matches that are organized primarily for practice and skill development. These games are typically played outside of a regular competitive schedule and do not count towards official standings.

During an "Exhibition Season", a travel team will participate in games arranged by the club, playing exclusively against teams from the Okanagan region, with some home and some away games. This will include clubs in Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, or Kamloops.

B: "Full Season" refers to the regular competitive season where teams play a structured schedule of games that count towards league standings and championships. This season involves more formal competition against a wider range of teams and is typically longer in duration, focusing on both development and competitive success.

"Full Season" teams will compete in the Premier Hoops Circuit, with travel restricted to the Thompson-Okanagan region. This includes club teams from Kelowna, as well as teams from Penticton, Vernon, and Kamloops. This arrangement aims to reduce travel expenses by minimizing the need for overnight accommodations and related travel costs.

Q14: 'Selects' teams 'Exhibition Season' considered a 'Full' season?

A: No, exhibition season teams are focused on player development. The club will organize exhibition games against other teams within the Okanagan region. This includes one 90-minute 5v5 practice each week, and teams will participate in a total of four 5v5 exhibition games (two at home and two away; details will be announced).

Entering tournaments may be available at an additional cost to players, and travel will be restricted to the Okanagan region only.

Q15: Is the 5v5 travel team tryout open to all players? And what is the format?

A: Yes, tryouts will open to all players and will have a minimal fee to register. However, not all players who try out will make the team selection. Experienced coaches will evaluate players carefully and choose the best team possible.

B: Tryouts will follow a combine-style format that includes physical ability and skill assessments. Club coaches will use metrics for skills and ability to identify and select the most well-rounded players who can contribute both individually and to the team as a whole. This approach is designed to prevent coaches from relying on personal biases and instead focus on skill- and ability-based criteria for team selection.

C: The club will host separate boys' and girls' identification camps, also known as 'tryouts,' during the first two or three weeks of September 2025, with specific dates to be announced.
